Question 94 sc300 2jzgte $3500??? guidance please

it seems ive found one of those 'too good to be true' offers yes?

Up for sale is my 1994 Lexus SC300 5 speed with a 2JZGTE Twin Turbo Motor.The motor has less than 50k miles on it. Before putting the motor in the car, I changed all of the parts as part of preventative maintenance, such as spark plugs, timing belt water pump, OEM clutch. All brakes and rotors. Front brakes are larger 4 piston calipers from a Lexus LS400.The seats were reupholstered with real high quality leather and white stitching. The steering wheel is from an IS300. The car runs perfectly and looks new. The car has lots of power and handles great. Everything looks factory original under the hood!!!

* Mileage: 135,005 Miles
* VIN: JT8JZ31C7R0018088
* Engine: 6 Cylinders
* Transmission: Manual

and like i said he's asking 3600 for it...now i do remember hearing that sometimes highly modified/engine swapped cars must be sold under salvage or something and blah blah ridiculously low price, but even if all that were true isnt this still just RIDICULOUSLY low?? i plan to call today..

oh yeah i did some poking around and found this car for sale a year ago on another lex forum going for 15,000 with a different name and number to call, is it possible someone bought this and for whatever reason just needs to get rid of it? cause otherwise its just all kinds of fishy to me..opinions and advice much appreciated

Yeah, I dont mean to rain on your parade but I think this is a scam or fake. Most cars I see with GTE swaps go for around 7-12k and usally the lower priced ones are salvage title.

Best thing to do is give them a call and take a look if its local. I am always on the lookout for good deals on cars to fix and sell and there are deals out there, you just have to be careful.

If he ask you to send money somewhere or he's living in another country and he can arrange something or some bs like that, just send him a nasty email and move on.

If it's not a scam, theres something seriously wrong with the car. Even body damage and engine issues won't make a 2jzgte sc go down to 3500, I sold my first SC which had considerable body damage and the turbo burned oil like crazy for over 5k, and it wasn't even hard to sell. Either this car needs a new motor, needs a new trans or is inoperable in some way, or its a scam.

If this was on craigslist it is definitely a scam (unless he has a phone number)....All fake adds on craigslist will have awesome cars for 3500 or 2950.

Ur also 100% wrong about the salvage title btw...it means it was in a wreck nothing more nothing less.

the car was on yahoo autos and it is within driving distance of me, here are the links to the selling threads i came across

http://clubna-t.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10460

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...it-work-wheels

maybe someone knows the previous owner and can provide some insight?

i called his 'daytime' phone at night time and couldnt get a hold of him so ill call again tomorrow during the day.

heres my other question tho, lets say its not so much of a scam and more of a lemon..how much might it be to fix a problem that would lower the price this far? cause sc's in my area are all $7000+ (the 3 or 4 that i can even find) so if i got this for 3500 and had to put in another 2 to 3 g's i'd consider that a worthy purchase considering what this car (or illusion of a car) has done to it. will update tomorrow..

This car?

Hmm interesting, something is probably wrong, add doesn’t say if its running or not. If it’s a scam he could of just took the cars info off one of those sites to lure you in.

yeah thats the one, i tried calling again today and got a voicemail seeming to be for someones office, maybe it was too late again? i mean like this would just be a really stupid scam, cant even reach the person..what would be the point other than to just be cruel. sigh, why is it so damn hard to find sc's up here...

dude youre not getting that car for 3500 its a scam, you can buy a 5 speed "project car" for that much but look at those pictures even if engine is blown that car is worth 7gs atleast. It has like new black interior, USDM 6spd harness...etc etc.
