Rims Size
I was thinking about getting some Lexus Rims for my 95 SC300 and was wondering what size you guys think is the best. I was either thinking about a 18" or 19", and I am going to lower my car using the Eibach prokit and tokiko shocks. I do not want the tires to rub, and I was wondering if the 18's or 19's would cause any rubbing. I was also wondering from any people with SC's whether 18's look to small or not, and whether the 19's would look that much better. Thanks!

Go to tirerack.com and check out the SSR GT3 rims. They're an excellent example of rims with a lip. Also, there are a few pics on this forum with those rims on an SC. Do a search using the name of the rims.

It really depends on how much you want to spend.
Buying rims is a personal thing. 18's look nice, ride decent, and a bunch cheaper than 19's. However, 19's fit the wheel well better, look great, and they set you apart from others.
I would suggest getting a nice set of 18's before a cheap set of 19's. 18's with a lip (that outer portion of the wheel that is horizontal...only found on more expensive rims) look great. 18's staggered with a lip look excellent.

Yes, I was going to get rims with the lip. I guess I figure that 18's would not look that small if it had the lip also. I was thinking about getting some of the lsportline rims for my sc. Also the difference in price between an 18 and 19 I think is a little too much for me. Thanks

Wheels with the lip on them look smaller than flushed rims.
When the wheel pattern extends to the lip of the wheel, the overall size look larger. With a lip or a three/two piece wheel, the pattern is smaller and makes the overall wheel smaller.

Buck, post a picture of your car when you get pics. I'd like to see how it looks with 17's. In regards to the lip, I guess I hear mixed reviews whether or not it makes the rim look bigger or smaller. From what I have seen, I think that even though the pattern is smaller for a rim with a lip, the rim extends further making the tire profile seem thinner. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

if you are after the look of a lip that is pronounced, it usually is at the expense of positive offset. Stay as close to 50mm positive offset as possible, especially in front, or handling will suffer and alignment will be more difficult - -

I agree with sail, stay close to the factory +50 offset, the only substantial benefit to going with a shallower offset is greater turn-in response, but IMO it's not worth it. Oh, and that's definitely true about the lip making the wheel look smaller, my next wheel choice will have the centre extending all the way to the edge of the lip. Howie, still dig those gunmetal Volks on your whip though.
