Exclamation engine shake problem!!

when i was smashing in my 2jz, my engine started shaking for some reason and it smelled like the engine got hot and after a while it went back to normal when i slowed down, it only happens at high speeds around 120!

one thing i didn't notice is that it says i should use premium gas and I used the middle one but i doubt that was the problem.. does any one know why?

Cud be a lot of things to cause a car to shake at high speed, check your Motor and trans mounts

Also check Wheel balance and warped rotors

Smelled like the engine got hot? Why do you need to go to speeds of 120?

And yes use 91+ not the middle one.

im not sure---ussually i would say coil packs but if it only happens at high speeds than i dont know really.

these cars for the most part are getting older and being hard on them will only lead to problems.

Almost everytime i went hard on my car(harder than normal) ive ended up with some sort of issue.

i hadnt noticed the light that says premium gas only because i just got it and i hadnt really drove it in the night and when i did drive it at night i saw the illuminated light saying premium only...

im not sure if its the mounts but i surely will check because its not like a engine shake.. i didnt check my rpms to see if it might have missed or is missing 4th gear and redlined and was rejecting it..

can it be because i had overdrive off and ect/pwr on?

sounds like its toping out. gotta remember these cars are old and the normal top speed may not be able to be reached due to old parts. thiings like the maf, air filter, fuel filter etc etc may be old and unclean/worn....

just my guess though....

thanks guy i think i found the problem, the over drive cancles the 4th gear so if "in overdrive" you cancel 4th gear. when your driving you cant change into fourth if its canceled.

i dont get it?

so your overdrive is causing your engine to shake violently?

i read that having "over drive off" means you get more strength not meant for high speeds because it cancels 4th gear because its not supposed to go that fast... meaning if you try to go high speed you eventually get to 4th (1,2,3,4) but overdrive cancels fourth so it reaches its limit at 3rd and cant switch to 4th so it "shakes" because if you keep going your trying to force it into a gear that it dont want to go into idk if that helps?
