Default What kind of MPG do you get?

Hey guys,

I am looking into picking up a SC as a daily driver and I am curious to know what kind of gas mileage you all get, especially on the freeway. Right now there are 2 SC400s, both with around 120,000 miles, going for $4500 out here locally, however I am thinking the SC300 would be a better bet for gas due to the smaller engine...(and for possible turbos in the future )? Anyways, just wanted to find out from actual owners since I am finding such mixed info via google. Thanks!

I have an '96 SC400 with 182,000 miles and I average 20. About 18 city; 21-22 Highway. It's really not bad. They have the power for plenty of fun, but are so light that if you want to drive it like a normal car it will, and not hurt you at the pump.

well sometimes my car sems to really get some good mileage.

for my car at least the difference beetween city and highway is like night and day---i actually get almost twice as much mileage on the highway.

I can get at least 550 kilometres per tank---even 600 on a good day

city i cant get much more than 300-350

I dont know why the difference is so noticable but it is.

It's very inexpensive and reliable so I was hoping to hear it got better gas mileage as well. I guess it's only a commuter car when gas isn't almost $4/gallon lol.

I get 16 City, 22 Highway.

I bet, with a BFI and exhaust and your ECU tuned, you could get 25+ highway. The biggest problem killing your gas mileage is how rich the 1UZ runs from the factory.

I once was able to achieve ~27mpg on a highway trip. This happened exactly once. I must have had a tail wind going downhill both ways. This was no A/C; cruising at 55mph for an entire tank of gas, with the windows up. It was absolutely miserable.

I keep joking with my friend that I'm going to start eco-modding the SC. It drives him up a wall. Maybe I should. Hahaha
