Default Coolant line going to throttle body

when changing plugs the coolant hose that connects to the tb on the driver's side (the one that is buried) --- coolant did not leak out when i removed it.

In fact it was clogged with something that looked like grease. I used a small screwdriver to get out what I could but Im guessing it may be all the way thru to the other end. But I didnt have time to trace the hose all way down.

any ideas whats going on here. also, where does this line end?

upon looking at a mkiv diagram I believe its a water bypass hose.

also, anyone have the part number for the pcv hose that connects to the intake pipe?

it was so brittle when putting it back it shattered on the end.

most clips and connectors were so brittle from the engine heat they no longer clip on and broke off. this is common but annoying.

Sounds like the coolant just was dirty and gelled up in the hose (or worse, someone could have used a stop leak product).

When I changed my spark plugs no coolant came out of that hose either, I'm sure gravity pulls it down out of that hose. It does sound like some stop leak was used, I would look at flushing the whole system.

...I hate that coolant hose and plan to put a metal splice/elbow there the next time I have it off to make removal easier in the future.

i should have pointed out its white like cooking grease not engine grease. I dont know what stop leak looks like but id think it wouldnt look like that when settled but who knows.

i flushed it a few months back and everything was clean as far as the radiator/cooling system goes. come to think of it i bought a new radiator and put it in as well.

i called the dealer regarding that pcv hose and he says his diagram shows something completely different.

i need the part number for this pcv hose:

also its not rubber unless it was and just hardened so badly it feels like plastic. shattered like plastic too.

I just replaced both of my hoses, one going under the TB and the other for the PCV valve. They both were very hard and broke like you have described. I used the universal fuel hose at oreilys auto parts and some good clamps. Its good now, holding up very well. I did this when I changed the valve cover gaskets on the 400...

no its this one below the tps with the brass fitting. looks like there are some different vacuum hoses in your pic than on mine. may be different for 98+. I was surprised everything ran perfectly once i got it all back together. I knocked something loose when I took the timing belt cover off because it was missing badly on acceleration.

the middle plug on cylinder 4 i think it is is almost impossible to get to with the intake in the way. and the back bolt on the coil pack was stripped. took another hour or two in an otherwise decent day.

Stop leak is silica (the same stuff they use to stop motors for the cash for clunkers crap)

Once it bonds together it becomes white like goo with a sticky feeling.

If it were me I would have the dealership or someone with a machine force flush the entire cooling system.
