Default Common power sterering issues in the sc400??

I keep reading about power steering issues and so far I have not seen what really is the problems as everybody just replaces the whole pump and lines which I would like to find the root cause of the issues?

Also sc400 has a powersteering and trans cooler correct?

Reason I ask is because I am going to put a boss filter in line.

The o ring at the bottom of the reservoir leaks which drips on to the alternator and kills it. The lines also can leak which isn't really an SC specific issue but they are expensive if you get factory replacements.

Ok so I should replace the 0-ring as preventative measure?

Well, I also have this issue and will be replacing the pump. I would also like to find out why this happens so often with our scs

Question sc400 ps issues

I'm having similar problems; I'm on my second ps unit and it's going south now too. My mechanic replaced the one that came with my SC (at about 75K) along with the crapped out alternator (due to leakage) and that lasted about 1 month before the PS went out again; the next PS pump (by another aftermarket supplier) lasted about 2 months and just today noticed it's starting to groan and get heavy (especially when cold in the mornings). I'm now probably looking at a 3rd replacement unit (thank goodness the mechanic did not charge to replace the first one that went bad and probably won't this one either) but I'm getting tired of this issues..... help anyone!
