if you remove the rear seats you can just lift off the rear deck cover. from there you'll see screws holding in each speaker. it's pretty easy.

Although the OEM sub woofer is easily removed, it's not so easily replaced...

The mount for the speaker also holds the grille on the rear parcel shelf in place. If you don't have a trunk mounted spoiler, it also supports the third brake light.

I looked into this quite a bit a few months ago. At that time I couldn't find a posting where someone had managed to replace the stock speaker while retaining the stock grille.

I eventually cut the old speaker out of the ring that supports all the ancillary bits and used a conventional subwoofer in a box.

So I bought the bracket on eBay. just a little review... It fits in the door, but you do need to cut at the door panel. If they shortened the whole bracket it would have been perfect.

before I had the Polk Audio 4"
now I got the Cerwin Vega 6.5"

So if you don't modify the brackets your door panels wont be able to line up with the door all the way. So you need to cut some of the insides of your door panel or modify the bracket. (door panels still look stock)

After experiencing this I would just modify the bracket and re glue it. That way I wouldn't have to cut the door panels at all. The bracket design isn't the best...

Looks like you and I have about the same setup (minus the Cerwins in the door - I have some 6.5" Pioneers). Looks like the same head unit as well (well... if it's the AVH-3200) - that thing is awesome. Now to just do something with that volume **** I'm not using anymore...

I have to say those mounting brackets made for an easier install than building my own.

Question: Anyone know the best way of mounting some 6.5s in the rear. I know I've heard it done, just haven't come up with the best way to mount them... so-to-speak?

just cut some round spacers out of mdf or wood that are 6.5" and sit it around the stock hole and then sit the speaker in it. just make sure its not too thick where the rear deck wont fit back over it, yet thick enough to give you enough room for the speakers to fit in them

Cool, I've been leaning more this route. Can't wait to get 'em in. I've heard guys on the forum, who have put 6.5s al around, say that the sound with the bigger speakers is amazing (especially if you use good quality speakers).
