The E39 is one of the handsomest cars BMW has ever produced and is way more practical than the SC.
Personally the E39, isn't my style. That being said, I know that the BMW is the logical choice.

to be honest it is hard to give u good advice here--wewouldneed to see both vehicles and see the specs and history of them both.
i have to admit from what ive heard and im not being bias here-----bmw's are quite low on the scale of reliability ---they are known to be fun to drive and perform well when they are in working order -------but they have high repaircosts and break down quite often from what IVE heard---i could be wrong but i dont think so
good luck either way ---looking forward to pics and specs
thanks

I have 98 528i with 177k miles on it and still going strong. I DD my e39 and the SC well... it's been a project so it's hard to compare modded vs stock. They both are good cars and both have stories on how passed 250k miles and modding can be done of both. It will be a choice of 2 doors vs 4 doors.

e39 BMW is arguably one of the best looking BMW's made. Premature radiator failures and lower control arm failures are the main weaknesses along with possible electronic gremlins as they age. If you fix cars your self, the repair costs are about the same as any other. I have owned around 6 different variations of bmws, (e34's, e36's and e30's). All have been extremely reliable and will run a long time just like the sc, well maybe not as long but can go to 300k miles. 528, 530 or 540 is one of the few cars I would trade this sc for. Not near as sporty looking, but classy and more room. I have a family so it makes sense, your mileage may vary.
