Not just today, replaced valve cover gaskets, having fuel pump replaced, new starter installed and will have new timing belt and accessories later this month.

Paid $3600 for the car in August 2012. That was at least $10,000 ago.

Removed and cleaned MAP sensor. Cleaned throttle body, which was really nasty. Removed mouse nest from under intake with the aid of borescope the Santa bought me this year. The nest was about the size of a ball a little under the size of a soccer ball. I just kept digging, and digging with my handy retrievers. Musta happened while the car was in storage before I bought it. If you can get a borescope, get one. great tool!

It was nice out so I decided to trace back some trunk wiring that's been bugging me. Whoops... With the P.O. having removed the stock CD changer and bypassing the speaker amp, and me removing it and the sub amp altogether and there being zero chance of ever going back to it, I've disliked seeing that cluster of snipped and rerouted wires with exposed, unused harnesses below where the CD changer and amp would go. As it turns out, I would have been much better off just leaving them alone and tucking them off to the side! Two hours later, I finally had them exposed back to the tranny tunnel junction behind the center console; not sure if I'll chase them down further or just snip them at that point. Lexus put a lot of thought into how to secure the wiring for no rubbing or vibration, but none into making stuff accessible after the fact. Wraps upon wraps upon wraps, with a few zip ties and carriers thrown in for good measure, along with several of the wires splitting off multiple times (gray, pink/blue, and blue/yellow, I'm looking at you). That was quite likely the least productive two hours of time I've spent on the car.

Now that I think about it, I should have taken the parcel shelf out to trace back the unused sub amp wires at the same time, instead of wrapping the bundles back up and putting the trunk panels back in... Hmm, maybe tomorrow.

Payed 13 bucks for a lousy pressure gasket, 30 bucks for a lousy rack mount bushing, spent more money on more lousy parts...SC 2 week anniversary on the jacks tommorow...just for a rack and pinion...

Received my hids, stock lighting is plain terrible, ordered interior LED lights for every bulb, and also ordered some trunk shocks.

Today, I unexpectedly joined the ranks of fender rollers ... by hand! Hammer and pliers FTW. My new 245/45-17 rear tires on 17x9 +24 rims are perfectly flush, but even on stock suspension, I saw rub marks. So much for the chart that says that configuration won't require modification... Rather than risk shredding the tires while looking for someone in the area that does rolling, I figured I'd tackle the high side (angled driveway, one side of the car sits 2-3" higher than the other) that had just enough access with the wheel mounted, and it actually went pretty well.

Of course, I wasn't worried about chipping paint, since the car already needs a re-paint and has some old poorly repaired damage around the fenders. Even so, no visible damage was done by my ghetto rolling methods. It just needs some primer sprayed on the inner lip, up in the wheel well, to replace what chipped away from the direct hammering.

Before installing the hids I decided to clean up the bay. So i went and got some degreaser, went to the dollar store to buy some brushes to scrub the bay with and forgot that I needed a sprayer to make my solution, so I said screw it I bought a cheap 1$ degreaser soley for its bottle.

Got home and said let's give it a shot, instead of throwing out the degreaser I thought I'd test it to see if it's any good.

Engine bay before:

The 99¢ degreaser and a test spot, I was impressed I did the other side of the timing cover with purple power degeaser and it was identical. So I said screw it lets use it and see how it comes out.

So after I used it and scubed it, and some water I got this, I was impressed lol. Although a gallon of purple power makes a lot more bottles and less than a $1 a bottle. I just didn't wana toss the fluid so I put it to use.

TheN some ***** fing gunk engine shine! Love this stuff

I'm definitely happy with the hour I spent , now Time to install hids, pics when finished!

I painted the NITTO logo on my tires. Looks good in my opinion. A lot of coworkers think I bought new tires. Amazing how something small like that gets so much attention.
