I went to the SouthrnFresh meet yesterday.
I looked like a 4x4 next to that S2000 that showed up....
here's a video someone took from the event:

Dropped my car off at a shop. The battery light came on the dash. I just replaced the battery last year so I assume it's the alternator. I didn't want to be left stranded on the highway so I left it at a shop and waiting for the call. So this is going to be a $200-300 dollar day. This sucks cause I just spend almost $300 last month on the A/C. It's the original alternator so I assume after 17 years it's finally saying goodbye. The good news is that every damn accessory, sensor, gasket, belt, radiator, plug, wire, cap/rotor, igniter, IACV, TPS, fuel pump, clutch, flywheel, starter, and fan clutch has been replaced.
EDIT: Shop called, they want $400 (yep, that's four hundred) to replace the alternator. These guys can't be serious.

YIKES!
Open the windows? (just kidding)
My SC3 came with a non-stock alternator when I bought it, which I figured out when I realized the harness was cut and wires were just crammed into the female side. I was having charge issues and a lot of belt squeal. A new alt wasn't in the budget then, so I just added blade connectors to the alternator wires, then calculated what length belt I needed (about 2" shorter than stock) to get the tensioner needle back into range. I haven't had any trouble since. If money is really tight, you could probably make a trip to a U-pull and get her running for $70-80. if you're willing to figure out your pivot point, etc..

They said the Alternator was $280 and $165 for labor.
yes, I was raped. Thank god I make a lot of money to keep this car alive. I'm going to buy a
new car next month, so the SC won't be driven as a daily anymore This will give me the
opportunity to work on my own car and learn more about engines.
