Took the starter out today. Its been a project but shes out. Now its out for a rebuild. Leaving me time to collect some new parts (hoses, gaskets, etc.) and get the manifold cleaned up. Heard and read a lot of horror stories about this or maybe just people dreading it. It definitely isn't as easy as most starters. but it coming along. It took me about 4.5 hours to get to it and get it out. Might of gone a bit faster but I've been working in the dark and on the street not the ideal situation. But its what I have to work with at the moment. I picked up a flex head ratcheting 14mm wrench and that really made getting the starter bolts out pretty easy. I was a bit worried about this after reading every ones comments on this job. I did give it a go with out taking the water cross over off. It just wasn't going to happen. I would have to say that dealing with the wiring harness and the crossover were the hardest part of this and I,m not looking forward to getting the cross over back in. the starter seems to have never been out before judging by the bolts. I also looked through all the paper work on the car the maintenance was well documented and didn't see anything. but judging by some of the electric connections and the shape of the wire harness someone has had the manifold off before. I am going to have to sort out a new cover for the main part of the harness. My goal is to put her back together in better shape then how i found it and to make it easier to get to in case it ever needs to be done again. I have some pics of the project that ill post later. Although this was inopportune time for the starter to go out. I am enjoying the chance to dive into and clean up the engine bay a bit.
