Dashboard lights dim when turn signal is blinking. WTF?
I dont have a lot of time to search the forums lately so I hope you guys can just help me out.
I just recently bought a used SC400 w/ like 170K. When ever I use my turn signals, my climate control display and cluster dims simoultaneously with the blinking of my turn signal. Does the same when my subs hit hard. Is this cause my grounds are bad? or what is this about. I've alwasys had used cars and never has this happened.
Thanks a lot.

my headlights dim out when my subs hit. the problem is more than likely the alternator on it. the stock grade alternator doesnt put out enough power,i would upgrade to this http://www.lextreme.com/alter.html and that should solve the problem

so if it was my alt. That would also explain why my driver door window is slow goin up and down yes? I'll check my grounds and the alt. A 145 amp alternator is good enough? What's ours come with stock? Thanks

I think it could be a combination of the stock battery.. alternator, and possibly a ground. Start with the cheapest first and see if it solves your problem. Then go from there. I would lean more to upgrading the alternator.

Huge difference when comparing amperage draw from an amp to blinkers.
Alot of cars dash lights dim when the blinkers are on, has very little to do with the alternator vs. poor OEM grounds. Grounding the battery and engine bay better fixed this issue for my SC, and only costs about $30. Try adding a few grounds in the engine bay before wasting money on an over priced alternator. ground the head, block, trans, and an additional ground on the alternator to the chassis and it makes a huge difference.
