Default New sc300 for $500

Bought a 1994 SC300 WITH 200,000 miles. Clean title. He wanted $800 i got it for $500. It needs: Back bumper, Driver side rear quarter behind the wheel needs work, Driver side fog light, hood, driver side door panel. new tracks for passenger seat, and a/c center console but the ac still works!

I drive down the street AFTER purchasing it. It over heats. I pull over to turn the car off. Pop the hood. Radiator is steaming like crazy! The idiot used electrical tape to patch a hole. Buy some radiator fluid and I get it home safely. Next day I decide to take it to work. Over heats again. So I turn it off at a red light. Light turns green so i try to start the car and no power came on. So I pop the hood and the battery cables are loose. I go to my local parts store and buy some radiator fluid that fills holes that cant be seen, and this play-doh silly puddy that patches holes for radiators and gas tanks. Now the car doesnt over heat anymore. Oh and i also bought some new battery connections.

So far i have spent $100: New oil and filter, 3bottles of radiator fluid, battery connections, and a scent tree so it smells like new HAHA! than got some old newspaper to clean the windows. they were so nasty and filthy. I dont think they have ever been cleaned! i can actually see out of the windows now!

So what do you guys think a good buy?
I wanted a SC300 anyways. So should i keep it and fix it. Or flip it and get one in better shape. I eventually want to own a SC300 and go turbo.

For $500 bucks I wouldn't say it was too bad, though for the amount of money you're going to put into the body alone you may end up spending the same amount that you would on one with very little work that needed to be done, IMHO. It'd be a great car for a project.

well thing is i have a hook up on body work. I was gonna just have to buy the bumper and hood and lexus emblems. than he was gonna paint it white and get rid of the huge dent on the quarter panel.

Well then it sounds like you've got a nice project going on; if you're sure there isn't a lot wrong with the motor I'd say stick with this. You'll get more satisfaction out of knowing you saved this little lady from seeing worse days and saved a bundle on the purchase as a whole. There's a thread somewhere on here that lists out all the necessary preliminary maintenance that should be done on a SC before you start modding, you should check it out. GL

not too bad, quarter panel is the worst of it all really. I would get another radiator, that fix will eventually leave you stranded again.

I say flip it. Instead of dumping money into it u can profit, and get something better.

K so guys I think im gonna keep the car. I have $3000 to work with. I've done motor swaps with the hondas b16, b18's ect. So think its possible to do a swap. Also what swap do you guys recommend? I want to boost. My goal would be about 350hp

Again my Question is: With $3000 what motor and trani would be best if I could keep it under $3000 to do the swap? Also would need to go to manual cause its Auto now.

So I can pick up a motor with trani for under $3000
My 2nd problem is i prob wont be doing the install. It takes me 3days to do a swap in a honda with a friend. are these jz swaps alot harder?
