Has anyone ever done a 1jz head on stroked 2jz?
I know there is a 1.5jz but what would a 1jz head on a stroked out 2jz block be? would it be? would it be worth the outcome? Has anyone tried it? It's pretty rare to see a 3.4L 2jz as it is, but a 3.4L 1.5jz??? would it even be a 3.4L?

I'm sure you could, but why would you want to? I have a number of friends who are running 1J heads on 2J blocks who already make lots of power.
What are your goals? Fast flow? Instant power? Top end?
Ultimately, stroking a 2J would be fruitless IMO. We all know what they can do stock.

So how is a 3.4L 1.5jz a stupid idea?
Just to clear it up I am not looking to go this route but I am curious to see if it's out there.

Okay... people that are putting money into a 3.4 stroker 99 times out of 100 have a 2jz-gte. There have been a couple of NA-T strokers. But no, a 1jz head would be worthless and there are way more head options for a 2jz-gte than a 1j. So yeah, the reason nobody has done it is that the people that actually have the scratch to buy a 3.4 stroker aren't going to waste their time with a 1j head.
FYI the 1j head doesn't "rev higher" it's the ECU. My supra revs to 7800. Stock head. GForce ECU.
Oh yeah- it's a stupid idea

I do see that a lot of the stroker motors are 2jz-gte's, but from what I read the biggest difference between the GE and GTE get eliminated when going with a 3.4 stroker. With the oil squirters gone and all the internals swapped with what comes in the stroker kit wouldn't a 2jz-ge and 2jz-gte block be the same if both had the 3.4L stroker upgrade?
BTW Thank you all for posting, I am just trying to learn a bit more. I would hate to start talking to anyone and sound like a tool not knowing my stuff.

The key difference is the head- a 2jz-gte head has been a well proven platform and has been demonstrated to flow enough to support 2000hp and 10,000RPMs. There is a ton of aftermarket for the 2jz-gte head and shops are the most familiar with machining them because that's where most of the high dollar builds are- in big horsepower supras. You are correct in that a 1jz-gte head is superior to a 2jz-ge head, so if you are on a budget that is a good way to go for a bolt on, unbuilt ready to install head that will give you some nice power and much better electronics. But none of those goals apply to someone who dropped $10k just a shortblock. With a stroker you're going to use a built 2jz-gte head
