Default SC300 2jz NA-T: what parts needed!!!

hey guys im going NA-T soon..on my current 2jzge 120,000 runs perfect.

My question is what exactly i need to do this and do it right? My budget is 3k at most for this and i plan on getting the T67 turbo....

ill just start with anyone else is going to say..
use the SEARCH feature..
also visit clubna-t.com they have a LOT of info over there as well as kits etc to help you get started..definitely do your research first though..most important step before buying or jumping into anything so you know exactly what you are dealing with..

also figure out what kind of power you want to make..that will let you know what kind of parts you need to get..
ie if you want 300whp you can leave everything stock as far as injectors fuel pump and make that kind of power with some sort of fuel management

however if your power goals are to make 500whp..then a different approach is needed..
and 3k won't be enough for that..so figure out what you want overall and start searching the forums..google is also your friend.

If you're looking into a T67 and an AEM EMS, then your 3K won't be nearly enough.

There is a lot of info as in a lot of places a imDementeD said, but you have to look for it. Don't expect to be spoonfed.

Let's start from the begining.... Do you know what is involved with turbo'ing an engine (i.e. what are all the basic parts)?

You'll have to use a piggy back instead of a full aem stand alone, and likely buy a used turbo insead of a new one, but it can be done for 3k.

i know what goes into a turbo currently have a 1jz single turbo supra. Basics are fmic , manifold , downpipe, waste gate , bov, oil lines, boost controller, and so on....

Right now Im looking at the XS power turbo kit but i might get a garret turbo instead and use all the XS accessories. Can all this be done with a 3k budget. I already found a used Garret for $500.

And yes i guess i will use piggy back because Stand alone prices are out outrageous!

what transmission are you using? On stock compression and injectors (use a Walbro or Denso pump) in theory your 300-330rwhp @ 9psi. I have been running 9psi on my na-t and have had serious traction problems first and second gear with the stock auto trans.

I would suggest staying stock compression and just running a meth kit, and if done properly, can still be reliable.

EXACTLY? Where the heck did people start thinking they can get all that for less than $10k? We've known that since 2001!

all jokes aside, I ran my xs power kit for a year on stock compression, motor took a healthy 9psi no problem, even ran 11psi for the first 2 months on an afc (stock injectors). later I upgraded the pump and injectors for safe boosting and turned it down to 9psi running off an ems, was good about 330rwhp.
Looking back I would skimp on everything else before I skimped on getting the standalone.
if didnt use a standalone I would be running a gte ecu. give it a search.

no offense intended to the OP, but if you really have to ask those kind of questions, then you really shouldn't be playing with your engine.

trying to piece together a good/reliable/productive turbo set up for around $3k, is like buying a mule, and entering it in the Kentuky Durby, and believing it will stand a chance.

a couple things have already been addressed in thus thread, but I notticed u mentioning looking to possibly buy a used Garret; have u asked about the shaftplay? is it a ball bearing, twin scroll, etc? I'm just asking because u mentioned a 67 trim turbo earlier, but don't seem to know specifically why ur looking at certain turbos.

1 piece of advice I'm gonna give u is do not skimp on engine management. I say invest in a good stand alone and u can make almost any decent turbo perform that much better. and if u DO decide to buy a used turbo( which I don't believe in bcause u never know if they've been oil starved, really until u run it), might as well have it rebuilt and have ur compressor upgraded.
GL on ur build. theres lots of home work to be done.

The used turbo has only 1000 miles and 0 shaft play ...its a solid buy...people hav built reliable turbos systems for around 3-4 k pushing 300ish HP that's all I'm looking for lil power 330 is plenty enough .. my other option is 2jzgte swap with a w58 4500 installed ....
