i took it all back apart and put it back together again and still got the same result.my fear is that i messed up the MAF sensor with the CRC MAF cleaner. does anyone have any input ? i read some of the other threads about crc maf cleaner and they said it was fine which is why i used it but now reading the can it says not to use on toyotas and some lexus models with a karman vortex intake. im tempted to just put the stock stuff back on and just get rid of the injen intake.......can someone shed some light on this matter?

Are you sure you reconnected everything correctly? Maybe you can find someone local to test a different MAF. You should also pull the code then try resetting the ECU by unhooking the battery for a few minutes. It definitely sounds like the MAF though.

I'm with Fried Rice, disconnect your battery and reset the ECU. If that doesn't work then
test another MAF.

The cleaner broke my MAF on my 93. Does it run super rich and stall out if your not pressing the gas?

The cleaner is not good for the vortex air flow meters (which i think is what 92-96 has). I know my 93 has the vortex.

My money is on the vortex AFM.

I think you might have fried the MAF by using the wrong cleaner.

i think your right ,shouldnt their be a change when the car is running and you disconnect and reconnect the MAF if so theres no change except for when you drive it and it will do what i said earlier it, oh yeah ive been driving like this to because its my DD hope im not messing something else up by doing this . so i guess im in the market for a MAF anyone want to sell one to me?

thanks for all the feed back guys. so i guess i'll buy another maf and just use compressed air to clean it. but it would be ok to clean the intake with a cleaner like valvoline synpower carb, choke and throttle body cleaner right? and maybe hold open both butterfly's with something, stuff a rag in the bottom of the bore so it soaks up the cleaner then use the rag to wipe out the throttlebody does that sound right to any one ? or will that also hurt some thing?

It is ur MAF, one thing I learn about the SC, NEVER let the MAF touch any kind of liquid.. I dont care if it cleaner, water or some other type, it has to be DRY otherwise, your idle will go crazy.

You probably damaged your MAF with that *cleaner*.
