I use to do this every so often over on a board I moderate (e38 forum on Bimmerboard.com) since people use to be interested in the information, and there seem to be several posts regarding prices. So I figured I'd share here since I have access. Keep in mind these are dealer only auctions, so if you've never seen numbers like these you are about to find out how much these cats mark things up. The "Above" "Avg" and "Below" is not tied to condition, it's what it sold for compared to what Manheim says the value is. As a matter of fact, if you've bought your car in the last several months from a dealer it very well may be up here. Enjoy! (The 96 300's are showing up as 8cyl and the 97 400's are showing as 6cyl for some reason...)

No problem guys, glad to post it. It was always heartbreaking on the e38 board (95-01 BMW 7 series) because for some reason BMW's flagship sucks hot buttered goatnutz when it comes to holding value. I bought a 97 740iL in 02 for 16k, and sold that last year for 6500, which was WAY above what they were selling for (not mention the 7-8k I spent maintaining it.) I bought my second e38, an 01 740i sport in 05 for 19k. It was a 70k car when new. A year and a half later it drowned in a flood. Geico gave me more than I paid for it, but at that point I could have only gotten 15k on a good day on the open market.

These SC's seem to be very different. Based on these auction numbers and what I've others sold and selling for, I'm WAY ahead of the game on my 87k mile 95. Which is a good thing

Don't let these numbers get you down my Commonwealth brethren. If I recall correctly, you got a 5 speed car with low to decent mileage. 5 speeds typically command a bit of a premium because of their limited numbers. At the end of the day (man I hate that term) a car is worth whatever someone will pay for it. I HAVE to buy cars at trade in value or less because I get bored quickly and easily and if I didnt make my money back when I sold I'd be in a big hole.

Oh yeah, arent you the cat with the 19" hammers? Thats worth something right?

I just bought two weeks ago an 93 sc with a brand new interior hit in the front from copart i paid $375. So i swapped my ugly grey interior with a brand new tan interior for that price.

Thanks for the boost BigCty The car is getting, or should I say, probably failing it's emissions as we speak. Smoke is coming from the exhaust, the clutch is slipping now...this has not been a good experience from the start. When I took the car on two different test drives, everything seemed fine/no smoke, no clutch slip, etc. I haven't even registered the vehicle or paid sales tax. I finally received the Lien release letter today after two weeks of buying this car. It's been a serious hassle from day one. If the engine and tranny are toast, I'm going to do the swap sooner then expected, or attempt to sell the car and start over. I put the stock wheels back on until I can afford some rear tires for the Eurolines. The seller gave me 235's for the 10" rear wheels, but the stretch is too extreme and our pot hole filled area. I'm looking at getting some 255's or 265's to stretch in the rear. I like SC's, but I'm feeling buyers remorse on this particular one
