Quieter telescoping steering-wheel?

I forgot the car even had this.
I quit using the auto feature the day I bought the car after I set it to where I wanted it. It's more of a gimick to look cool than anything else. Getting out of the car is not made any easier for me with it working.
Just one more thing that can break and cost money or as a worst case, get stuck in the retracted position when you are far from home.

When I took my car in for service at the Lexus dealer they gave me a RX330 as a loaner and I noticed the telescopic steering column was much quieter and wished mine was that quiet. After applying grease it helped slightly, but I do believe the noise level depends on the electric motor and design. But I do know what your talking about, the newer Lexus models (excluding the sc300/400's) have very quiet telescoping steering columns.

Retrofit the manual tilt and telescope mechanism from a Soarer if the noise is that bothersome
Although I've driven newer cars where the power tilt and telescope mechanism is quieter, none match the speed and precision of adjustment of the power wheel in the SC. Its actually one of the things about the interior of the car that I really like.
