Tail Light, Light Mod
Hello, I am relatively new to this site as well to my 1994 5 speed Sc300. I've always been a gear hear, and love tinkering with cars. I also own a 300zx TT that has been moddified a very good amount. I'll post a pic of it at the end.
Well ever since I got my Sc300 I always disliked the way the first of the tail lights that came out for the sc300/sc400's lit up. (Only the corner pieces light up when the running lights are on) Looks very boring and nothing special to look at, at night. Some may agree and other may disagree. Just my oppinion.
I decided I wanted to change the light pattern up a little. Well those of you that have the same tail lights as me know that the corner sections are on when the running lights are put on, and when you hit the brakes the corner sections get brighter and the inside sections light up.
I've decided I wanted to make the inside sections light up as well as the corner sections when the running lights are put on. And when the brakes are applied that both the corners and insides both get brighter.
Well it's pretty easy to do and the outcome is much better I think.
All you need is TWO more of the same corner connectors that holds the bulbs and twists into the tail light. This is because the inside connectors only have two wires coming out of it and you need 3 wires like the corners. One wire for all the time running lights, second wire for when the brakes are applied, and third wire for ground. Where as the 2 wire connector is only ground and brakes.
No where do you find these connectors? Well I went to Auto Zone, Advanced Auto Parts, and Car Quest and all of them did not have it. Just trying to save some people some time if they decide to do this mod.
So then I went to the local junkyard searching for an sc300/sc400 but had no luck. I then found an ES300 and was hoping it had the same connectors, and sure enough it did. Grab the two connectors for $5.
Got home did the wiring and bam looks great! I can do a more detailed right up if people request me too. It's pretty simple.
I am not sure if anyone has done this to there tail lights. I never searched for this.
I'll call this the Tylerw1 Tail Light Mod=P
Onto the pics. Sorry for the picture quality, my camera sucks at night!
First three pics are comparing the tail light mod to stock. Left is the mod and right is stock.
Braked Applied
Completed (running lights)
Distant Shots (running lights)
Brakes Applied (very bright now) =D
Distant Shot (brakes applied)
Random Pics (painted center console trim, and custom fit a 300zx shifter **** on) =)

A little shot of the bay. Anyone see anything custom I made in the bay? Sorry for the quality again.
And a pic of my 300zx TT

I have only one complaint and it's that the pictures really don't give it justice. The inside part of the tail light in the pictures looks like it only lights up as a rectangle, but in person it looks like the whole bottom portion of the tail light is lit up.
