quick question about fender roll
I was browsing local craigslist and found a guy who has a "rolling machine" and rolls fenders for $75. I figured it was a reasonable price to have my fenders rolled properly instead of doing it myself with a baseball bat, so I shot him a text. After I tell him I drive a Lexus SC400, he says "I'll have to charge you $125 because Lexus vehicles have double-folded inner-fenders that require more rolling." Is this true or is this guy just trying to get more money out of me? Just a quick question I wanted to ask a knowledgeable gang

True.
Sounds like he knows what he's doing, the guy that did mine had no idea until... well.. it was too late for my fenders.
Just keep in mind, your paint is going to crack.

Yeah, I'm hoping it won't be too noticeable

I may just cut as well. Is there a way to keep the fender lining with cut/rolled fenders?

be sure when your rolling the fenders to use a heat gun, it will help keep the paint from chipping and cracking too badly.

Do you want to roll the lips flat or just push them up a bit? I rolled my fenders flat and a very slight pull with a eastwood fender roller/heatgun and my paint cracked.

I won't know that until I get my wheels and suspension thrown on. Other members have told me that I'll need at least a slight roll on my rears with my setup. (about 2" drop, 19x8.5 235/35 front, and 19x9.5 265/30 rear)

That is true. I have the same size tires and rims with stock springs, and I had to roll mine.. I cut one side and rolled the other. I would say take the wheel off, and grind it down with a grinder, then paint it with some rust proof paint. Thats what I did, JMO. The side that I simply rolled under, the paint chipped. Up to you!

I'm guessing you had to get rid of the fender lining when you did this? If you had to mod your fenders on stock suspension, I may need more than a slight roll then. Do you have a pic of your car with those wheel specs?

Yes I have a couple for you. The side that I grinded down with the grinder, I left the plastic lining in place. I cut the most top part of it, where I thought the tire was hitting the most. It worked the first time I did.. The other screws was enough to keep the plastic in place and scraping. On the side that I rolled I had to remove the plastic lining and the few screws. After I did this I touched up the under side of the lip where the paint chipped, then I taped the underside of the roll that was left, sanded it, then painted with rust type paint to make it blend in with the black fender well. Let me go get you a few pictures.

Heres a picture from a distance and up close of the roll and cutted side. I will let you be the judge of what to do. I would cut it, NOT heat and bend it. I need to touch it up again. You cant see it just from the angle of me taking the pictures of you. I hope this helps you. Let us know what you decide to do and good luck.
I now have all chrome emblems, this is an old picture. Only one I could find.

Thanks for the pics man I really appreciate it. It looks like you cut straight through that screw in the first fender pic lol. I'm not so sure I'll be able to deal with cracking like that. I'm extremely picky lol. I'll be cutting if anything. Thanks again, you've been great help
