Hey fellow Lexus fixers. This is my first Lexus, but I've been a shadetree mechanic for a while now. Here's a problem I need some help with.
I bought a wrecked in front left 1995 sc400. It is missing the center console (ac control & radio), just fyi. Anyway, it got hit hard enough to crush the external fuse box behind the battery. I replaced that (hoping I wired it right) and got the car to turn over.
So I turn the ignition on and couldn't hear the fuel pump. Pulled it out. Tested it. Dead. I replaced it and now, it is spinning when I run a hot lead to it, but it doesn't seem to be getting full power from where ever. After I crank the car, the fuel pump power leads read 9v and slowly trickle down to 0 (assuming there's a cap in there). I figure it would be 12v, then go into stand by. Anyway, I bypassed that and directly wired it. And now the next problem.
There is no fire. Engine cranks fine, no spark. Pulled two plugs, one from each coil side, and watched the gap. No fire.
Since I have 2 sets of relays/fuses, I replaced all the external fuse box relays/fuses, same results.
My day job, I rebuild laptops for resale. So I do board level repairs. I pulled the ecm apart and didn't see any blown ics, diodes or whatever. That doesn't mean it's not bad, just not visually bad.
Here's the kicker. When I first rewired the external fuse box, all the dash lights came on, along with the clock and odometer. After putting the fuel pump in, no dash lights are on, no odometer. The clock is intermittent. I did check all the fuses under the dash (not the relays). Nothing is blown.
Another thing is I disconnected the air bag box located behind the radio. Since both air bags deployed, I thought I may have to replace it. Not sure how that works. I attached it back, but that seemed to be the time the dash lights/odometer stopped working.
Also, the car didn't come with the ac control panel or radio. Don't know if that matters. It's also missing the passenger air bag. Not sure if that'll keep it from firing.
Anyway, could use expert help. I'm not the kinda guy that likes to replace parts until it works again. That and I'm broke

Gotta save cash. If you have any ideas, please gimme a shout. And I will definitely post the solution to this thread for future Lexus owners. Thanks.
