92 SC300 Sinking Clutch Pedal Issues

Hi Guys,

My brother and I have been trying to figure out why his clutch pedal sinks to the floor when he barely pushes down on it half way (good resistance if you quickly push it down and release similar to power shifting behavior). He has a 92 SC300 btw.

We have changed out the clutch master which was bought from a local member on this board. The master was said to be in good used condition. Once that was installed, the pedal still behaved the same.

So, we then changed the slave cylinder with a known working unit. Still no luck. Of course we bleed the system after each part was swapped out. There were no signs of leakage anywhere.

The last resort was to change out the clutch pedal spring that is attached to the assembly under the dash board thinking it could be a bad spring... no luck. We even adjust the clutch play thinking that might even do anything. Yeah right...

So, with all these failed attempts, we haven't covered any ground in trying to fix this stupid clutch problem. I am starting to think that the clutch master that was purchased used was bad to begin with...

Does anyone have any insight on this? Perhaps someone on here went down the same road and we might have missed something in this whole troubleshooting repair process.

did you bench bleed the master cylinder? sometimes that can be an issue. don't know any other advice to offer besides bench bleed the master cylinder, either that master cylinder is bad or there is some air in the lines..
