Default Trailer Hitch DiY

Well fellas I have seen lateley that some of yous have questions about hauling things with the SC n how. Even I have had those question but now I have answered my own and mabey some of yours. I just finished up a trailer hitch install on my 92 SC3 auto and I am pretty satisfied with the outcome. I picked up a hitch of some guy on craigslist for $50 (I love craigs) and got the wiring harness from uhaul for $16 the rest was good ol elbow grease. So lets start first off I dont not know the brand of hitch this is but from the stickers that were on it leads me to beleive that its from uhaul aswell if not you can get the Curt brand one from ebay.

First here are the tools needed
1. Hammer (not really)
2. Ratchet with extension and 17mm socket
3. 17mm wrench
4. big plyers or w.e. that tool is called

Here is the hitch
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 1. Jack up the rear of the car and secure (duh)
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 2. remove the four 17mm bolts that hold the exhaust hangers and another metal like bracket that dosent really do anything these steps are the same for both sides
Click the image to open in full size.

Here it gets a little tricky to remove the exhaust hanger bolts bcuz the rubber mount is in the way. This is why you need the big plyers for, just grb and squeez, not to hard though you dont want to mess up the rubber even though its pretty tough

Once you remove the rumbber mounting from the exhaust it should just hang like so

this is what you should have removed by now on each side

Setp 3. the fun part now, its helps if you have someone with you cuz the hitch is not a very light item but if not just get some 2x4 and a 5gal. bucket and place the hitch on top and try to line up the best you can with the original holes

Step 4. once you got the holes lined up just use the existing bolt that you previously removed and bolt it in place. Remember that the exhaust hanger go on the two hole toward the front of the car. If not you will have a real hard time hanging the exhaust again LoL. This should be the final product

I chose not to reinstall that pointless metal bracket again

And here it is full functional install

I forgot to take pics of the wiring but its pretty straight forward with the instructions provided i will take pics of the wiring later and I will get a full shot of the car and jet ski its just raining outside right now. Sorry if my write up seams a bit primative it is the first time I ever done one of these. Also I would rather not pull my ski with my SC but its my only car for right now.

I would really like to see this car back that waverunner down into the water , can you take pics of that when you do it please. I've always worried about the car going to deep.

Awesome DIY, do you think I could mount one of those Tow Dolly's(Front tire towing only) and tow another SC with this set up? Or is towing that much weight no good?
