Default Old headlights/projectors vs New headlights comparison PICS

Just finished my retrofit and I found out one of my headlight has been replace with a newer one with the update projector.
Heres a few pics comparing the old and the new for those who are interested.

I just shined a led flashlight through the back of the projector.

old

back

****ty pic, sorry. Hard to hold everything with both hands.
You can see the narrow and uneven pattern, not a good idea to stick plug and play hids kits in these. I had them my old soarer and the glare was pretty bad.

new

Nice wide even pattern with a sharper cutoff in the new one. Should be ideal for a quality plug and play kit.
Only problem I see is the square light at the upper left hand corner. You can probably block it off.

Invaluable info, thanks for the write up. I'll keep this in mind when I grab a set of HIDs for my SC.

What's up with the small block? Is that where the turning signal is supposed to be?

Those squares inside the projector cause this glare above the cutoff line. My headlights are factory from 1998.

Whoa.. I have a '99 and mine look NOTHING like that. No glaring at all above the cutoff line except for the cool "rays" from the city lights. I'll have to get a pic.

So I went ahead and took care of the problem, all I did was simply stuff some aluminum foil in that hole to completely block off the squares.

The new style projectors are definitely better for use with a pnp kit. All you have to do is cover up the small hole (w/ tape, thin piece pf flash aluminum, anything else that you can think of), and your good to go.

Is it possible to open it up completely and insert a custom cutoff piece?

edit: nevermind, seeing things. Honestly I like the old ones.

I adjust both lights so that they overlap a little, so you dont notice that the middle part is lower.
its pretty close to a flat line on the old ones.
Also seems like they shoot more light on the corners on the ground which I like more.
