bznhornets - are you the current owner or you both co-own the car with 2benVD ? After verifying your Door Tag Bottom # , Month of Manufacture and last 7 digit numbers of your VIN , based on the Lexus Production Chart , your car had been manufactured in August of 1996 and not Feb of 1997 .

I am giving up the Black Pearl 1997 Lexus SC300 5 speed project in favor of the red Supra MKIV 6 speed project. Thinking about it, once I am tired of these cars, it will be easier for me to sell a 6 speed MKIV than a 6 speed SC and even make more than what I invested. Nobody buys modified SCs for a good price after all. Having a 3rd MKIV and keeping my 3 1992 SCs will be more beneficial for me.

So if someone is interested with a rare 1997 Lexus SC300 5 speed with 115k on the body just PM me. I will give someone a real good deal on this hard to find car.

Yeap , unfortunately our SC's market value are sh?tty even if you install the best built drive train from a MKIV . I wish I can keep it but I guess I am going overboard already with my 2jzgte toys. 3 MKIVs and 3 SCs are already too much.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately , the # at the Bottom of the Door Tag, the production month / year and last 7 digits of the VIN you provided do not match. The Lexus Production Chart says that it was not a 1997 manufactured car or 1 of the 120 but instead it was a car manufactured in August of 1996

Just bought mine last Tuesday in Florida it's black on tan. It was traded in at a lexus dealer.

I got you . I believe the thread is about the 5 speed manufactured or produced in 1997 which was the last year these Lexus SC300 5 speed were manufactured and not 5 speed registered in 1997. Otherwise, there will be a lot more than 120 of them or the actual 1997 would even be less if we include those from Aug-Dec 1996 into the 120 which will make the 1997 even rare. The chart below says that the 120 was the production number. That is the reason the reference for verification is the VIN / door tag and not the registration papers.
