How's the Stock Stereo System in your SC?
My car came with an aftermarket system and I'm thinking I want to go back to stock as I don't dig that kind of stuff, I want my trunk space and I want the interior to look factory.
Is the factory radio good? Should I do the switch?
If I do so what will I need headunit and the 4 speakers? anything else?
Are the parts the same for all 92-00 sc300s and 400s?
Thanks!

I went from a car with a custom audio system to the SC with the stock system. I love the stock system. I can't stand extremely loud bass anymore. I guess as you get older, your audio tastes become more refined. Plus... I want to hear what my grandkids will eventually say to me instead of going, "HUNH!?"

My stock stereo came broken when I bought the car. Then the factory subwoofer blew.
Do youself a favor and keep the aftermaket stuff, or sell it and go with smaller alternatives (i.e. hide it on top of the gas tank).

I couldn't tell you much about it. I had two blown front speakers upfront when I got it, and the rears I believe were replaced before I got it. Mine is all aftermarket now and I love it, but dont hear me wrong I;m not dissing the stock system, I just never got to experience it.

I'm probably crazy but I rebuilt mine. When I got the car the radio would only play static. I replaced all the 4 inch speakers, had the head unit rebuilt. Had the sub woofer and the sub woofer amplifier rebuilt. Last but not least added an Ipod connection to bypass the CD changer. Now it sounds great. No distortion or vbration, crystal clear sound. But for that I'm sure you could buy a really nice aftermarket system. I just had trouble finding someone I trusted to make an adapter plate for the head unit, that's why I went this direction.

The stock 97+ Nakamichi sound system is FTW in my honest opinion. Its very clean sounding and refined. If you want quality then go wit the stock system. If your into a shiiit load of bass and that kinda stuff, then go with aftermarket but i highly recommend the stock system. More than anything u would need.

My 97 Nakamichi audio system sounds great. I replaced the deck with a Pioneer F-900, and left the speakers and sub. SOUNDS even better! I will be getting new speakers and subs, but it sounds great now, I'm not in any rush anymore to replace em. I will replace em as soon either way just because I'm an audiophile.

i loved my stock system as well. it came with factory 12cd changer. i barely had to change them at all. and the bass isnt loud. just enough for that bump. and the stock tweeters made the sounds clear.
theres a stock air sub. and there are also the stock factory amps.

I love my '99 Lexus system. Plenty of bass and great sound quality overall, especially with CDs. I usually have my Zen plugged in to the casette deck and that's solid as well aside from the hiss at low volumes.

The stereo in my '93 works great EXCEPT that the CD changer does not or will not play MP3s. I have been told that it can play .wav files or whatever ...
I've tried everything and nothing (other than a CD) will play in it. Currently I am driving the unit with a cheap MP3 player with a cassette interface.
It sounds OK.
