Daytime Running Lights (DRL) for '99 SC
I honestly searched all over the internets and this forum. I cannot find an answer at all. I want to get a similar color DRL for my SC400 as the new headlights I just bought. I recently installed LED 6000K headlights from Light Moses to replace the ultra dim stock headlights. However, i want the DRL's to be the same color.
I have checked and the DRL's are on when the car is in gear, but they look dim. The ★★★ SC300/SC400 FAQ & DIY Mega Links Thread - START HERE! ★★★ - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion sticky doesn't list DRLs and neither does Autozone or Sylvania on their bulb guides.
I saw an image which looks like what I want - any idea what bulb size this is?

Cool, I'll try that.

The high beams are the DRLs on Toyota cars of this era. Instead of running on 12V, the DRL resistor cuts voltage down to 6V to the high beams as the car is running and then turns the DRLs off once the headlights are turned on. The DRL relay outputs 12V to the bulbs when the brights are flashed or the high beam stalk is turned on.
If you are looking for a LED 9005 bulb that acts as a DRL and keeps high beams working 100% correctly, try something like the Auxbeam F16s. Those are kinda popular with IS300 owners because they light up as bright parking lights in DRL mode and output full brightness as high beams. They are one of the rare dual power LED kits out there that actually work with older Toyota 6V/12V DRL systems

So, I purchased some 9005 bulbs. They seem to work perfectly. However, what are teh lights on the bottom of the car near the fender? I have them circled in the image below. What are they called? I assumed (incorrectly) that they were the daytime running lights.

Ahh, thank you. I had no idea we even had fog lights. I then wanted to see how to turn them on in the event I ever drive in the fog. Here it is:

I installed the Auxbeam F16 lights last night. I need to have my son check if they work properly. Just for clarification, they should light up at half power when driving during the day and full power when I have high beams on?

Hmm, still nothing. I can have the Auxbeam LEDs on when I have the high beams but nothing when I'm driving. Not sure what's going on. I checked to make sure the polarity was correct. As far as I know, it is.
Anything else I should check?
Next on the list is to install LED fog lights. Looks like that'll be a mult-hour job.

Oh, that makes sense. I was hoping this would be a solution. So, I want an LED that can work at half voltage. Any ideas out there?

I did not know DRLs were even in play on an SC. Having a ‘92 it never even crossed my mind….
The ‘92s did not have fog lights; instead they had “cornering lights” that illuminated when making a turn engaged by the turn signal. They actually worked pretty well.
The replacement front end using ‘97 plus style lights, converted these to fog lights where they always come on when the headlights are engaged. (Decided not to wire them up to engage on the “first click” on the stalk which some have done.)
Good luck on your quest and it even may warrant a separate thread in the DIY area when you succeed.

...and on this note...
Today i saw a video on why I should not have one with four-sided LED bulbs. The guy makes sense:
That said, I'll check out some Xenon Depot 9006 LED bulbs next. https://www.xenondepot.com/9006-xtre...pro?quantity=1
Still bummed there's not a LED driving light I can use.
