Yeah I would say a grand.

While I'm sure the car has life left in it, its still high mileage.

"Fresh paint" worries me. If it was well taken care of and had a mediocre factory old paint job, I would be more inclined to take it. Fresh paint to me indicates there was body damage. Rarely does someone paint a car and then sell it unless they are a car painter and painted it for just the cost of paint.

300K is a lot of drive time regardless of the average speed. I totally agree that "fresh paint" on a car with 300K is a totally bad sign. Perhaps if you had a 2003+ car with 300K I'd understand... but a 95, that for sure means he has a discount and the paint probably sucks or he had an accident and its not worth it anyways.

I wouldn't even buy it. 300K is 300K all around. From the seats, to the hood, to all the little screws and bolts that come undone and rattle at such a high mileage. Save your money and keep looking!

If the body is good.. pay around a grand. Then swap the engine out.. check all the rubber components, susp, etc. make sure its all sturdy and you've got yourself a nice car on a budget

I dont know...about the whole paint thing, maybe he just didnt like the car the way it looked, I have had many cars painted just because it was all faded and stuff. I dont know 300k is 300k like he said, but I must say toyota/lexus = lasts forever. So you do what you want, if you like it, get it, but dont let the paint scare you. New motors for these cars a VERY inexpensive...so its not like you will lose much. I got labor for mine at 500 so...yeah...do what you want

1000 dollars give or take .If you dont plan on swapping the motor goodluck with it, they are pretty stout but if seals and gaskets was not replaced be prepared to do so. If the previous owner did not change the bushings and end links then you will have to replace all of them. Powersteering rack and pump might be leaking if was not replaced by the previous owner .

The list can go on with a car with that amount of miles. Mines have around 280 on the clock and it was neglected. I had to replace every bushing on this car.

i disagree, 300k its just broken in. If it was maintained it will last another 300k.
Toyota's will run forever as long as it been taken care of. Ever hear of the 1,000,000 mile club? Soon to be a member.

with that. offer 1500 if the interior is clean. 1000 if not.

it's a sure thing that it needs some repairs and the parts aint cheap. if lets say you have 2-3 grands to spend on your main car, i suggest you get a corolla or civic with less mileage. it's much cheaper to maintain and you save gas with it. if you are buying a project car for restoration and maybe track purposes, you don't want to miss this deal, as you will take out lots of things anyway.
