Default New to the club - 1994 SC300 5 Speed

Hey guys, just joined the club a couple weeks ago. Snagged this black on tan SC300 manual for $5400! Few dings on the outside (maybe hail?) that I'm going to try some paintless dent removal techniques on before i wax and shine it up

Current issues:
AC could use another recharge, not very cold
Seat memory doesn't function - gonna check the connectors in the door today
New remote door lock ECU is on its way from WI
Door pillar paint is peeling on one side, but I'd rather go for the polished stainless look than repaint
Refinishing some IS300 5 spoke aluminum wheels, gonna need tires

Otherwise it's perfect. Totally love the car. My first manual other than my motorcycle though, so I still need some practice with it.

And before everyone asks - PICS!

I checked the manual (car came with original manual, service manuals, documentation of absolutely everything, lol). I couldn't find manual specifics though - I know in an automatic you need to be in park and not touch the brake. On my car I've -

Put it in neutral, parking brake on
Held set and either number button

...no beep.

I'll keep searching though, would be better than opening up the door panel if I could just correct something I've missed!

The key needs to be in the ON position according to my owners manual. It works for me when the car is turned off, but key in on position.

Just tried it in ACC, ON, and then with the engine started with no beep. I also found on the search that disconnecting the battery works sometimes - I had it off the other day and it still gives me trouble.

Guess I'm opening up the door to check the connectors there.

Opened up the door, and the switches weren't connected :P

Works fine now.

My new wireless door lock ECU came in today. I bolted it in, and it definitely works, but the diagnostic is telling me that the key transmitter is faulty >_<

I'm emailing a local Lexus dealer for a quote on a new transmitter, and I suppose a new ROM to throw into the ECU. At least I got the seat memory to work today, lol

A manual Sc ... just makes me love the car that much more. Why-oh-why did Lexus produce the SC400 with ONLY an automatic?

Thumbs up Welcome to CL!

Congrats!

Overcome those minor issues and your Lexus will continue to run like a champ!
