Default Good deal?

I know someone selling a '98 SC300 with 480 miles, $16K.

Good deal? My worry is dry rot. Car looks and smells brand new, been stored in a heated garage.

If it's legit, than buy it. Check the tires, and see if they have been changed before, and if they havn't than check how much tred is on each tire. If you know how much should be there for 480 miles, which is almost all of it, than it should be legit.

Went to check out the car today.

Car looks amazing, basically a brand new car, loaded with every option and has the gold package which I'm not a fan of.

But the car feels like its really down on power. I havent driven a V6 in years but its still supposed to have 225hp, instead it felt like it was 100hp low. Was giving it gas and the car was pretty loud and it wasnt wanting to go.

The guys said he NEVER changed the oil and the gas is a year old.

Are the 300's loud? My GS's are super smooth and quiet and even under heavy accelaration theyre relatively quiet. But this car under about 50% throttle is rumbling from under the hood.

I'm thinking maybe even mice got into the exhaust and built a nest in there. The car really is super low on power.

The guy has never driven the car, its his wifes, and she said she'll have to talk it over with her husband to see what theyre willing to do with it. I asked them if they can take it to a Lex dealer and have it checked out, she said she'll get back to me later in the week.

sounds like it needs cleaning up and maintenance under the hood and full service.

It likely needs $1000 in restore, maintenance... but still worth it if it only has 480 on it.....

if you really want to buy this car you might have to change all the hose and gasket since it was sitting there long, i have bought a 97 car with 20k and was sititing in the garage for 2 year and was barely driven so the gasket, hose was hard and needed to change. so i think this car situation is pretty much the same as my 97 car.
