I think extending it in the middle is the best way to do this mod. If you do it on the sides, you would have to get the proper curve of the lip to match the bumper curves. You can't just extend it from the straight part of the sides because you would just be pushing out the lip more. The lip has to be wider to fit the wider base of the 97 bumper.
I believe CyberSC4 has the lip on his car so might want to shoot him a pm. There are others as well, but can't remember their s/n.

even mooorre late

jk i saw this a while back when I first bought my car and have had it mind for a while.

finally did it this weekend. Except I did it to the wise lip which made it slightly more difficult with the extra curvature. I also made a few changes to make it more sturdy like using more rivets on the center piece and more screws underneath.

I also sticker bombed it which made the bondo part easier but i still got it almost perfect and that was worst part to me. ( I Hate Bondo) lol i'll post pics a little later

3m makes a 2 part sandable bumper repair epoxy, theres prep work involved to make it strong...you have to sand a both parts with 80 grit very well and spray adhesive promoter and then apply the epoxy...they make flex epoxy too, its kinda pricy like 40-50 bucks a tube and you need a tube gun. If done correctly your bumper will rip before the repaired area if you run over something. I've used it many times to fix bike fairings and when we shaved my emblems on f/r pre 97 bumpers. I just got a front bumper from a member on here that needs to be fixed and im going to mold the pre 97 lip using this product.

see how you can see it ending a few inches short before the actual end of the bumper.

I was wondering if anyone had more pictures of something like this? Lip mod with after market sides?

This is great. Going to do this to my car soon.. I was looking at shine/auto couture front bumpers.. and found this. Great alternative.

Nicely done.. but here's a tip.. you should use duraglass (fiber reinforced bondo)
Reason: with all the vibration on the lip, the bondo will endup cracking and falling off.. duraglas won't do that.. but great job.. thumbs up
