Default How much weight can I drop from an SC300?

I am going to buy another SC to strip and make a drag car. If I gutted it, how much weight could I realistically lose. I know they weigh 3550 with a 5-speed. Could I get it down to 2700-2800lbs?

You could remove the engine and trans....that would drop some weight.

If you completely gut it (no AC, no heat, no ps, no evap system, etc), you could probably get it down to around 2800. Sasha2188 on Ziptied who is building a road race S14 and he's got it down to 2188lbs from like 2800lbs stock weight and he doesn't have carbon fiber anything or lexan windows or anything yet. He's been slowly removing every unnecessary part little by little and weighing everything as he takes it off.

Thumbs up SimplyZBes aka Master Hater

1. Get 2 Carbon Fiber Doors
2. Get Carbon fiber Hood
3. Get Carbon Fiber Trunk
4. Get Lightweight wheels
5. Get Two Racing Seats and remove rear seats

You will lose the luxury theme though

You will be alot lighter with these parts if you chose to go that route.

Thanks, I love my red car - I could never lose the luxury of it - especially the heated seats!

if you want to make this a drag car, these are massive, yet realistic weight savings
-ac
-seats
-hood (go cf here)
-soundproofing (hell, might as well get rid of carpet too)
+1 racing bucket
titanium exhaust
alum heads (dont know if they exist, just a suggestion)
light wheels
edit: oh yeah, fuel cell instead of gas tank

that should make your car a whole lot lighter.
now if you could find some CF doors, that would reduce the weight a LOT as well.
