Installation is very simple. I did it on my car in about 1 minute.
I will explain installation using the picture posted above by someone else. I am doing this from memory so the installations may not be perfect but they probably are
1. Pull Ebrake and press shift lock override button while moving the shifter into D
2. Push plastic piece at bottom of shifter downwards to reveal 2 screws.
3. Unscrew screws and pull shifter handle up and put it aside.
4. Insert flat head screwdriver under shifter cover (12) and pry upwards. It should just pop right off.
5. Do the same for cupholder (15)
6. Remove screws holding trim piece (11) in place that were underneath (15) and (12).
7. Pry trim piece (11) off.
8. In the bottom of the hole where you are about to install the new cupholder (14) is a piece that covers the hole to mount the new cupholder (14). This piece should pop right out.
9. Insert cupholder into hole
10. Reverse this process to reinstall everything
11. Enjoy watching lame attempts by new cupholder to hold any kind of drink besides a soda can.

I broke many plastic pieces when working on cars. I rather know the right way to do than forcing it

I don't even attemp to have a soda can there when going through corners. It's just for show most of the time

I agree, take the whole thing out - Only takes an additional 30 seconds. The entire process can be done in less than five minutes if you have no clue as to what you are doing. If you do know what your doing - about 1 1/2 - 2 mins tops.
And I personally feel the cup holder is mearly a $50 trim piece to cover the obnixous hole in the dash. Plus its a conversation piece for everone who gets in the car. Besides that, the ability of it to hold a beverage is highgly qusetionable. Especially on turns!
Enjoy,
Keith

The hole is a beautiful thing!!
I am disappointed in all of you for disrespecting the hole!!
My entire life I have respected and yearned for holes of varying shapes and sizes. Without my hole, I would have no place to put my garage door opener. It fits perfectly (sideways) into the hole. All I have to do is pivot it out of the hole and strike the button in one quick (James Bond-Like) movement. (it also hides a ten-spot for emergency gas money)
Shame on all of you. You need to think about holes all day long like I do so you can appreciate a way to use yours.
Remember, if you do not use and appreciate your hole, somebody is going to come along and use it for you!!

I agree with captclam. Personally I don't know what i'd do without that hole. My Nokia 8260 fits perfectly in that space and allows the ringer to face out letting the phone ring full volume. In the past I would always have to sacrifice my center console cup holder to hold the phone, until I switched to this nokia... Ya know Lexus must have a crystal ball about this, too bad they ignored the powersteering pump problems. lol
