I just wanted to thank you guys, I removed my panel because my door would not open from the outside and my windows would not go down. The clamp was loose. So i removed it, put into hole and re-inserted rod and opens like a charm and windows works also. I was quoted $300.00 to fix.Invaluable info on this site. Thanks Again .

Default door handle clip

Yea Gazi! Got my new door latch and all is well.

A piece of info for you-all. The Toy P/N for the clip for the right side door is 69293-12030. The drivers door takes the other one...P/N 69293-12040. See the diff there?

Lex no longer sells the clip alone. They only list it as an attaching part to the "Handle Assembly" and that cost....

I nominate this for a position as a "sticky" seeing as so many of us have had the same problem.

****I JUST FIXED THE PASSENGER DOOR OPENER***

I tried to use this DIY thread but It wasnt the clip that was broken, it was the rod. It took me like 3 hours to do, and in the end I used fasteners to secure the main ROD, to a rod next to it, then I used another fastener to center the main rod in the center of where it goes down onto the pressure plate(or w/e it is) using the 2nd fastener i wrapped it around the main rod and wrapped it around something attached to the metal part closer to me, and it was fixed and centered. Last time I checked fasteners are made of HARD plastic so the door is permanently fixed basically. Sorry I couldnt get pics of this but if you live relatively close to me I can show you how to fix it. I don't have a camera but the next time I take the panels off I'll snap a few shots and post them here.

i just fixed my passnager door latch using this write-up. it's very well put together and everything went smooth.
thank you SC4Hundo and everyone else that participated.

let me also add a little tip for those that are experiencing this issue ... when this clip breaks, FIX IT ASAP and do not use your window on that side of the car. this way you'll prevent damage to the rod. mine was bent pretty badly from opening the window 1/3rd of the way once or twice.

thanks again.

If anyone just needs to replace the plastic part and can't get one from the dealership, I found this site that carries em and I got mine shipped in just a couple of days. Getting ready to go outside and fix my door right now.

Here is the link to the drivers side:

Ok so I got the clip and the rod pushed into the door handle, and then put the other flat/forked end into the only logical place I could see it going to at the top of the lock. The door now opens from the outside, but every time I open it from the inside, the flat part falls back out. So I looked and it is just pushing down the same part of the lock to open it from the outside that goes down when I pull the handle on the inside. Am I sticking the flat part of the rod in the wrong place? I can't see anywhere else for it to go.
