SEM painted interior from grey to black
I have been asked after the Import Alliance meet to post some pictures of my interior. After about three years and countless hours searching on here and looking at everyones else's interior, mine is ALMOST complete. I have repaired all of the broken tabs and cracks. I finally found me a center vent that was not cracked. I have painted everything with SEM, except for the volume and temp ***** and the seatbelts, they are still factory grey. The color I chose was SEM black Landau for the plastics, vinyl, mats, and carpet. I actually did the carpet and mats with RIT dye from Walmart and then finally finished it off with SEM. The door speakers have been upgraded in the front to 6 1/2 and the rear to 6x9, covered with all new speaker cover cloth. The tweeters are still factory. The seats, armrests, and console lid, were painted with SEM GMC black. This was the look that I was after, almost factory. My buddy painted the woodgrain for me, after my dissatisfied look of my own, with black chrome. It has got 5 coats of clear. The pictures do it no justice of how shiny these are. The LCD screen has been replaced with one off of Ebay. The backlighting was redone by Lextech to blue, with a white background on the LCD. The needles were also done by Lextech as well. I am the one who won these about a year and a half ago on here. The backlighting of the cluster I replaced with superbrightleds and refaced the other lights with another diy. The steering wheel is the only thing that is factory black. I just bought that from another member on here. Thanks man! The factory phone and switch on the steering wheel has been removed. The factory Nak has been completely removed and all new stereo has been wired in. JL audio mids and highs, and polk audio tens in the trunk. All the amps and wiring are mounted and hidden above the gas tank.
I have redone my headlights three times, to finally get them not to leak. The car has been dropped on Tanabe springs, thank to skirts! I was not looking for something slammed, just something to close the gap. Mission accomplished. The tailights has been painted with 6 coats of VHT. It was really hard to see them originally, but I waited till the painted cured for about 2 months. I wet sanded with 2000 grit ever so lightly, then buffed with a cutting compound and wool pad, then polished with a foam pad, then waxed them. They are factory glossy now. Keep in mind these were taking with my Droid X and this is the original paint on the outside! There is alot more that I am not mentioning, but let the comments commence!

well as far as i can see your interior looks very well done.
I believe you were the one i waas speaking to in the other thread about doing SEM and if it will hold up?
Anyways your interior looks very nice----any comments on how it holds up to wear and tear or is it still to early to tell.

I would say just remove the carpet from the car. Dont try this while the center console is still in there. Take your time and remove the radio and the console completely. Its pretty straight forward. Remove the rear seat by pulling up on the front portion of the bottom portion then pull straight out. Watch out and dont brake the seat belt buckles. Remove the side trim pieces along the carpet. Remove the two seats. Remove carpet. If you are going to do black, I wouldnt even clean it, it will be covered anyway. I would vacuum it really good. Go buy about 6 liquid bottles of rit dye. I would then mix one LIQUID rit dye bottle to one gallon of hot water in a pump up sprayer, shake it then commence to apply evenly. Once you run out, do it over again until satisfied of the blackened results. Once the black is achieved, I will let it sit for a few days, then rinse it, let dry and reinstall. If it turns a little purple as some of us as stated before, you will need to finish it off with SEM. it works great, as shown above. Once it dried, I will then apply a few coats to the plastic area along the floorboard next to the drivers mat. This will complete it, as I did mine.
