Lexan/Acrylic windows....anybody got em?
Does anyone have them?
If my sponsorship proposal comes through, I am all over a set of Vertex dry carbon doors and there is no way in hell i'm going to use the stock glass in those. I found 2-3 companies that offer side, quarter, and full rear windows in lexan/acrylic materials. No I don't plan on mesin with my windsheild or rear window but the side windows would be a good idea...

I think your best bet is to ask the Austrailian community. They are more of the hardcore drivers.
What did you plan on doing with your car anyways? Competition-wise I mean.

I've seen plenty of car with lexan. Its really not that hard. Buy some sheetsof lexan, get them cut to the approximate shape using your existing windows, make a frame using a metal rod, weld on tabs with holes onto the rod, then and rivet them on.

I'm not talking about race-spec, rivet-on, lexan windows here....the ones I found in Japan are curved and shaped like your stock glass. You basically just replace them like you would glass and they still function as power windows...just lighter and they scratch a lil easier. (i'm thinking of using some sort of thin film on them to prevent scratching)
BTW, dry carbon is much much muuuuuuuuch stronger than regular carbon fiber....but if anyone managed to damage one of them, there would literally be hell to pay =0

The only reason Lexan is used in race cars is it doesn't shatter like automotive glass.
For racing It is a safety issue not a weight reduction issue.

Lexan is used for weight reduction in many cars. A full lexan swap (winsheild/side/and rear windows) routinely saves 100+ lbs, which means alot in competition. Your side window swap won't save that much but couldn't hurt.
