Default Red SC400 Convertible seen on BeltParkway, Brooklyn

I was driving home last night, and i noticed a red sc400 with a kit just driving along side me. I took a glance and noticed it had no roof. This did not seem to have been a customized job at all. It looked more like the JDM Soarer convertibles found in Japan. If you are on this forum, your car is hot Has anyone else seen one of these, i dont believe they had them in the U.S.

Judging from the rarity of this car, I think I can tell you that I've seen the same one you speak of. I saw this beast on Cross Island South heading towards JFK. I drove up behind, this was probably a year ago just about, glanced at the rear of the car, sure enough there it was SC400. Made my way up to the top and saw the top down. Unfortunately, it was one of those rare traffic-less times on the cross island, so I didn't get a chance to talk to the driver, just had to keep driving by

But definetely a rare sighting

I don't think there is JDM convertible Soarers. If you are thinking of the white drop top Auto Couture Soarer on you've seen all over the place, that is a custom job. I'm almost 100% sure there is no corresponding convertible to our cars. Obviously the new Soarer(SC430) is a convertible and I'm pretty sure the previous generation Soarer(no corresponding US model) had some type of convertible version. Those are the only convertible Soarers I know.

fella's- there are only two Topless soarers... the MZ20 Aero Cabin:

and the UZZ40 Soarer (known as the SC430 in the states)...

so what you saw was custom if we are talking about a Z30 SC/ Soarer

It was the Ford Fairlane Skyliner. Even nowadays people are still amazed by hardtop convertibles. Back in the 50s people must have thought that it was the craziest thing they'd ever seen. Here's a couple pics:

Lexus wanted BADLY to make the SC a coupe but engineers were not satisfied with the test mules rigidity. that is why the SC 430 was made from the ground up to be a convertible

Those Z30 convertibles look pretty damn nice. I wouldn't mind taking one.

Well, the white AutoCouture convert was for sale on Yahoo Japan Auctions about a year ago. I can't remember the exact price- but I was able to read that it has a C's Supercharger kit that has been customized with a smaller pulley, and that its also stroked to 5.0 liters with the C's stroker kit.
