I remember reading somewhere that hitting the gas all the way to the floor is the same as using ECT, so I rarely use it.

Although it's fun scaring passengers:
"OK everyone brace yourselves!" as I press the ECT button

Mine is on whenever I get on the freeway. Once my car gets up to 40pmh and I know I'm only going to pick up speed or stay constant I turn it on. It's never on during normal everyday street driving. Not with these damn gas prices

I read the in manual that the ect allows for firmer transmission shift and the tranny will hold shifts longer thats it. i think it should save a very small amount of gas if you drive slowwly because less hp is being lost during shifts so for city driving ect should be a good thing.

Not for me, I noticed when I drove around the city with ECT engaged I ran out of gas waaaay faster than when in NORM mode. NORM is more of a gas conservation mode.

im pretty sure if you dont let your automatic rev to high when driving in city i think it should help. but i do know ect likes to fly a little higher in the rev range. so you may be right.

I noticed W/o the ECT in power mode, it takes almost WOT before it kicks down .When my cars in its top 2 gears theres almost no useable acceleration around 40-60 MPH Almost dangerous when you need to speed up a little to make a closing gap in traffic...
