cigarett lighter , no power
Last month, my alarm stopped working, had a stuck lid on my ciggarett lighter/ashtray, so I didnt check for a while.. the other day finaly popped the ash tray lid and found two pennys in the cig hole.. cig lighter no power, checked all fuses under engine hood and side kick pannel,( drivers side) no fuses where blown but cig lighter still has no power? could it be a relay? another fuse some where i do not know about ?

Hey OLT ,, what part of , I checked the side kick panel, (drivers side) fuses.. did you NOT see?
its fuse #10 and its good. lol

This also could be a wiring issue if in fact fuse #10 is bad. This has happened to my 1993 and 1998 SC400's. I was able to rig something up. Basic wiring stuff. It might sound ghetto but I borrowed my radio 12v constant and wired it to that. If I remember correctly, I also put a 30amp fuse in place of the OEM 20 amp since all I run is a radar detector on it.

Just to be clear, here's a shot of the back of the lighter. There're two plates that are separated by an insulating mica washer, and connected with a small wire fusible link. As you can see, mine had cooked, so I removed the mica washer and put a regular washer in its place. Better than spending the apparently exorbitant prices for a new lighter assembly...

Did nobody read the part where he said he checked all the fuses in both locations? 
Okay, well wait a minute. I didn't read the part where he said his alarm stopped working. Unless your alarm was plugged into your cigarette lighter, it is not the fusible link behind the socket. Listen to these other folk. Surely you have a fuse blown somewhere.

I love this forum so damn much haha I dont know how it works but switching the washer to a regular stainless steal washer works. ahhh now I can finally plug in my escort radar lol. AaronE
