Default Removing Door Lock Mechanism

Does anyone have a how to or any advice before I try to remove my drivers door lock mechanism. I know there are the 3 exterior screws and removing the 2 cables, but what about unhooking the rods. I am scared to break one of them as this is what happened last time. Any advice appreciated,

Peace,

Jonny

the rods are held on by plastic clips, you may need a pick to pop them open. as for the hardest screw to loosen, will be a silver philips head screw(near the bottom of the door) holding the window guide.

I suggest you get a dremel with a cutting disk and turn the philips into a flathead, get a big flathead screwdriver, and loosen that sucker!

Actually I was just in mine today since that stupid plastic clip that holds the linkage to the door latch came loose at Wal-mart. Had to go in through passenger door. Glad I could because my daughter was already in car when I tried to get back in after putting stuff in truck. Thought I was locked out and she would be stuck in car. What a bad feeling I had. Anyway man is it tight in the door cavity. Time to get some parts to fix it..

Well man,

As my luck would have it - both went out at the same time!! So, I had to call a locksmith twice to get into my car. Thankfully the pass. side was just the clip, but drivers side the rod was broken.

So, I bought the mechanism for drivers side and then lost the damn clip that I just bought from Lexus. So I gotta go spend another $9 on a tiny piece of plastic and then hopefully not do too much damage to my car while trying to replace it. But then again it doesn't open anyway so I can't make thigns worse!!

Peace,

Jonny

Well I got my clip put in today. Worked out fine. 30 minute repair tops. $9 for clip. Ouch. Got mine for $5. Oh well some people are out to get you. Thankfully I have gotten very freindly with my Lexus parts guy Good luck on rod repair. Almost broke mine when I rolled window halfway down too many times till I finally figured out that is was probably hitting the rod that fell off handle.
