an old time buddy of mine,(hemi head) said they use to put helium or some other gas in the tires to make it lighter is this true.

T&E vertex makes a dry carbon fiber hood that weights 4kg (8.8lbs) i'm sure they sell it and you'd have to check with them but last i checked speedalliance.com the cost was 4k! but yea there are other options if you have the cash. fyi, it's the carbon fiber hood you see on Ueno's drifter. Also what about replacing the glass windows with acrylic?

bringing back this thread because it was very informative and many of us are still searching to lose that extra weight, i know i am right now. ive got plenty of horsepower now im trying to get the weight down.
some more suggestions would be an after market radiator such as fluidyne they weight a decent amount less and obviously have other advantages, second would be to check out some place that sells all kinds of carpets i found a very cheap carpet that was suprisingly light and looked almost stock im planning one buying a big square of it and cutting the holes necessary to fit my sc also works good if u wanna take you cars interrior to a different color

sounds great -- I'll try to whip one up in excel, all formated pretty and such!
Also, Fluidyne radiators are good, and PWR is a decent alternative, and I've heard they work better... but require a tranny cooler for the automatic guys.

relocate battery to truck at location of the stock CD Changer... clean up truck, remove all carpet and spare tire! take out back seat and all carpet in car... cover it by something nice and light.... rollcage for added rigidty. change rear glass and side glass to plastic. Removed hearliner. All stereo out, AC out, all panel out......etc.
However, will it still be a nice luxury lexus??

i have an idea ive been kickign around for a while in my head... but i dont know whether it's practical cause i dont know much about chassis design....
could we modify the spare wheel well so that its removable?
im just not sure if it would hurt strutural rigidity.

There is a bolt that you need to unscrew to remove the spare.

hahaha yes, im talking about the metal well itself, not the wheel haha.
the well is not removable, therefore i am presenting the idea of making it removable. hence why im worried about structural integrity

But the problem is this: you are lightening up the wron end of the car. If you make the rear even lighter, then you'll have the front have an even greater % of the overall weight. And that's not a good thing.
