Is the SC300/400 a Collectors Car?
Would you consider this model to be a collectors car? I was on a list with 3 different dealers for almost 6 months waiting for my SC400. During that time I got maybe 2 calls, either it was the wrong year or color or interior color was not what I was looking for. I finally went with a private party.
Each dealer told me "that car is hard to get, people keep them" "it's rare that we get that model in & when we do it sells before we can get it on the floor" Those were the kind of remarks I got, and I talked to alot of different sales people at diff dealers, they all said the same thing.
As luck would come my way I finally got what I was searching for. So would you consider this model to be a collectors car?

well i would say it'd be under the classic category in another few years. i know for a fact that Supra's are basically considered classic now. just wait it out.

The SC stayed pretty much the same for almost 10 years right ? That should count for something. I will also have my SC400 forever I hope. Allready got plans on what it will be like by the time my son gets it ( he is only 6 now )

The SC300 will be right there in the stable. It may have a new factory paint job and custom interior but It'll be right there with the rest of my prized toys. If it's not a classic collectible now it will be.

Thanks for your responses, I guess as the years go by there will be less & less of them in better condition. That is why I was so anxious to get a 98 + model because I plan to keep it forever. I also feel that the dealers try to get the highest price on this model because they keep saying it's rare & they hardly get any with trade-in's.
It sounds like those of us that have the model are still looking to get another, so were always on the hunt.

Chicks still think the car is oh-so sexy. Surprising thing, even young chicks too, who wouldn't have had a clue what this car was back when it came out back in 92. It will always be a classic for me

No, it is not a collector car and it never will be in the sense of sports cars hand made in limited numbers back in the day worth milions today.
But it is a car that will always keep value and be respected by the enthusiasts. Just because it is timelesly styled and thrully emazingly build machine.
Do not expect to make any money on the investment though , but at least you shouldn`t loose money ider

Additionaly if you are willing to expand your search in whole state, cars are there just pricey. I looked for mine two weeks just recently. Search thru autotrader in Florida rutinely brought up `bout 30 cars, so it is not that bad.
Think to know, you do not have go thru the dealer, even if you do not have cash money.
Your bank should be happy to finance you regardless where you buy in whole state, ider from the dealer or private individual.

A '98 i wouldn't think would be, though certainly more rare. a '99-00 is definately a collector..... in the eyes of the Lexus world.
Production was limited to just a few units in the last 2 years and those are truely special.
