Default Fikse FM5 or CCW LM5?

Is anybody running Fikse FM5's in their sc300/sc400? With my body work and repaint nearly complete it is time to focus on wheels. I. Ought ancheap set to roll on for a month or two but I want some real wheels. I know the Supra guys have spoken very highly of the FM5 wheels but I haven't seen them on a SC yet. Lots of LS1 guys like this wheel too. Let me know if anyone has them and your thoughts. Otherwise I'll be looking at CCW LM5's. So if you have those, I'd like to see those too and any feedback. Thanks in advance!

Jim

Both brands are regarded as very high quality, but if I had to choose between the two, then I would go with the CCW LM5. I prefer the look of a 3 piece wheel with bolts. 3 piece is also nice because you can split the rim and replace a bent lip or barrel if it were to happen.

Aren't the Fikses like double the price?

I wanted to get those wheels years ago even before I had my Works but there was no way in hell I was paying that much for a new set, and so few people actually have them, they almost never come up for sale on the used market. Or if they do, it's the wrong size, condition ain't right, etc. so I got the Meisters instead.

I love those CCWs also. Looks like more and more Supras are running them. Tough call, man. Can't go wrong with either set. I prefer the Fikses but would be thrilled to have either set to be honest.

The way I look at it... if I'm gonna spend $785 a wheel for CCW, what's another $100 a wheel for something a little different and more rare. Just weighing out my options. Final assembly of the car will happen this week and then it'll be time for big brakes and wheels. :-)

the Fikse FM5 is a 3 piece wheel by the way. According to everything I've read and their website.

Yeah, you're right. I looked into it after I posted. The classic series is 3 piece with bolts that thread into the face from the back.

I bought a modified GS that came with Fikse wheels at an auction 12 or 13 years ago. The previous owner installed all these mods, then the car got repossessed by the bank. The bank sold the car as is for a fraction of what the mods were worth. I think those wheels were 2 piece, but I can't remember. I tried searching for pictures of the car from when I parted it out to confirm if they were 2 or 3 piece, but I haven't had any luck.
