Talking 1993 Lexus SC300 NA-T... PLEASE HELP ME

Hello, My name is Justin and I really looking for help in going turbo... from the obvious naturally aspirated... Now my dilemma is I dont know enough about doing this to be just haphazardly buying things I dont need. Anyone who has done anything like this, I am only looking for bare minimum stuff. Building a sleeper but ive been told its not possible to switch from auto to manual... (Please say it aint true!). Once again any advice will greatly help. I have a few friends here in Michigan that can help with the mechanic stuff especially the installs. Thanks! P.S. Cheaper to an extent is better, I got the car for 600$.

You can absolutely swap it to a manual. Lots of options and threads here exploring all those options.

For an NA-T conversion, how much power are you looking for or do you have some 1/4 mile time you want to run? What's your budget? You have to pay to play my man!

Finally a reply! Just kidding... Im looking for around 400 horsey's and no particular track time. Daily driver with a bit of a sleeper kick. Price - 4k over the course of the year. Maybe a bit more if I can find the setup I want.

400HP is no issue for an NA-T. $4K might get it done with some smart shopping - You'll be looking at some used parts for sure. But if you're patient good deals on all the stuff you need pops up on the forums, CL, eBay, etc. I'll let the significantly more knowledgeable guys chime in with specifics, but just search, read threads, and take notes.

I appreciate the advice, Ive been looking for a solid few weeks now. From what I understand its going to end up as me piecing together my own turbo kit from a bunch of different people and beefing up the trans because anything over like 7psi on the stock one its gone... Anyone have suggestions on the manual one I should look into? BTW - Im talking 4k for just engine, the trans will be separate and im ordering wheels and tires and fixing the small stuff this coming week.

Since you admittedly don't know much about doing this, my recommendation then would be just buy a turbo kit from a reputable vendor. Drift Motion, Boostwerx (Dave H), etc will all have quality NA-T kits, and you can take comfort in knowing that they will fit and work together nicely, and have a line of communication for any questions you may have during install. Takes a lot of the guess work out of it.

For example:

4k budget can definitely put together a na-t kit but you will have the issue with the transmission. You could mod the valve body and shim the trans. Adding a large oil cooler will help as well . And that should hold the 400hp for a while. Just be smart about the parts and find good deals

Im suprised no one has said this but you really should search rather than waiting on someone to reply. there is literally a metric ton of info on any kind of swap, mod, etc. for these cars..also look into doing a 1jz swap. you probably will come out cheaper.
