It has nothing to do with adding value and everything to do with getting it running just good enough to sell.

You're ignoring a whole heap of work done that adds very little to the amount the car will sell for. Go on with your bad theory, though.

Exactly how I see it when that happens. Just be patient and it will pay off. A while back I saw an SC ad that was 12 hours old at like 3am. I called the next day and it was gone, that fast. $2,500 for a 1994 with 165k miles. It looked pretty clean and I was not happy I missed it. Then I saw a really clean looking, black, 5 speed, 1996 Mustang GT for $2,500. The ad was THREE HOURS OLD, I called, and it was sold(dem rhymes doe). At this point I was livid. I decided manners be damned, I will call or text at all hours of the night if I see a car I want. A few weeks later I saw a nice SC, texted the guy at 3am, and got it for 25% less than the asking price the next day.

I'll wait patiently for the right 98 - 00 SC400 to appear.

Thank you all for participating in this thread.

If you're in rural GA, like me, be aware that you are unlikely to find any SC's in nearby junkyards.
Replacement items that are normally a few bucks, be they cosmetic or mechanical, may have to be sourced online
or from a parts store or dealer.
