Default Switch to led taillight bulbs, turn signals won't flash.

So in an effort to modernize my 93 SC400 I decided to upgrade all the old taillight bulbs to led. Changed them all out, figured they would hyper flash because I haven't had time to instal load resisters yet but when I went to test them there is no hyper flash. The turn signals come on with hazards just fine, taillight out bulb comes on the dash(as expected) but when I hit left or right on the turn signal they just come on and stay on. No flash, just stay on till you turn them off, front and rear. (I also changed out the front turn signal bulbs to led.) I figured I could just live with the hyper flash till I put load resistors on next weekend when I had more time but the not blinking at all thing has me a little concerned until then. Im sure every cop and other car in town will love me. Will load resistors fix the problem or is it something else?

Have you tried flipping it? LED bulbs have polarities.

When I flip the bulbs in the sockets they don't light up at all. Right now when I hit the turn left or turn right switch the come on. But they don't blink. They all stay light up until they are switched on.

If they light up one way and not the other, polarity was presumably correct.

With stuff like that, I find the best way of troubleshooting is to revert everything back to original, check that it works again, then change things one at a time and check functionality with each step. It'll usually be obvious which item (bulb) is causing the problem, and then you can try different things in that spot.

I got the hyper blink issue right up till I changed out the front turn signal bulbs. So instead of blinking or hyper blinking they just come on and stay on till they are switched off. I get the feeling like the resistance dropped too low and that's why they just stay on instead of blinking or hyper blinking. Electronics is not my forte.

I've replaced most of my bulbs with LED, but I never did the front turn signals. Sounds like that's where your problem is.

Buy the LED flasher relay 3-prong for toyota cars.

I've never heard of LED lights just staying on, but I wouldn't call it a full blown electrical problem until you get that relay. If everything becomes normal after that, then consider it just an issue with the older relay

That sounds like a much easier way to do things than load resistors. Did a quick search on Amazon. Not sure exactly which one I need. Something like this ok?

^ Yes. Just make sure you are buying the 3-prong relay for imports. 1990s domestic cars also use a 3 prong relay design but the power and ground prongs are reversed.
