What is it about that 1/4 panel on these cars?

Mine was hit exactly the same way in a parking lot about 6 years ago. A $500 deductible later it was back to normal. The labor charges were insane. They had a line item $120 charge to remove the power antenna assembly and reinstall it after the repair. That is like a sub 10 minute job at home without the exterior antenna nut special tool a body shop would have. The hit and run driver was a scoundrel and the body shop was run by thieves. The total invoice came to around $1400.

That sucks, but I swear that side of the quarter panel is a ding and dent magnet... I have 3 nasty door dings on that side of my car AND someone plowed into it exactly like the OP, while I was parked in a near EMPTY parking lot... 1600 later and she looks normal, except for the door dings which the parking lot hit and run didn't get close to...
