Warning: LEDs for DRLs
*Correction (Thanks to howiedoit) I am talking about parking lights NOT Daytime Running Lights
I wrote this before but my computer froze! ARRRGH! Anyways.
I wanted to replace my cornering lights from halogens to LEDs. I spliced a yellow LED with a 420 Ohm resister. (I know I should have used a higher resister, o well...) I thought I was done but When I turned off my car and pulled the keys out, the DRLs were still on! With the LEDs, I lost the luxury/security of having my DRLs off when I pull my keys out. It hit me that the DRL power security feature must be voltage dependent for the SCs. Arrrrgghh! What a waste of time.
So beware, With mods come the loss of a Lexus luxury.

actually Thang, you just didnt wait long enough. the circut has a capacitor inline and the led draws substancially less current than the bulb. it may take a bit for it to drain it out of the cap.

Thanks Howie, I'm talking about the all the parking lights. My bad. Thanks for the correction.
Brian, I hooked up the cornering lights to a relay so that it turns on with the side cornering lights. I had them on for like 20 seconds. Shouldn't those globe lights (2 at 35W) and the LEDs draw enough power very quickly or are we looking at a large inline cap? Where is the inline cap to this circuit?
