SC400 vs MR2 Turbo
Need thoughts guys!! I have the chance to get a very rare Canadian Car, 93' Mr2 Turbo (last year they were in Canada) but basically it will a straight trade for my SC. Both are 93's but I think I might miss my Luxery from the SC... I don't know if many of the SC owners have driven an MR2, but I love them as much as SC400, great cars. So I am going to set up a pole, why should I not get a Mr2 other than it is a Toyota... no luxery, not much more speed, hell more fun, lot of modifiability, but less cargo room. Thanks boys.

My buddy has an MR2, fun *** cars to drive, but NO SPACE inside at all. Also the stock audio sucks, which doesn't sound all that bad until you find out how hard it is to install a nice sound system to fix it--again space. Other than that I really can't talk the car down.

I have had at least 1 MR2 for the last 4 years. At one point, I actually had 3 of them. When I sold my 1991 MR2 Turbo, it was the worst decision I ever made. And you are talking about a 93? They have the bigger wheels, better brakes and suspension, some have factory LSD ... I would take it over an SC400 .. just make sure it is well maintained and in overall good condition...

get the mr2..
better mpg
handles way better
faster from a stop, launches really well.
your SC is automatic and a heavy slug
who wants to drive everyone around anyways .
if the mr2 is Auto , pass on it
if it has T-Tops I would pass, too much body flex, and any other color but black they look crappy on, but lots of guys like them.
find a sunroof model or better yet a Hard Top
the 91-92 actually can handle better but only if you really know how to drive them, 91-92 prefered by the auto-X-ers
there both good cars , one other thing might be that the guys on the mr2 board are really knowledgeable and can actually help you out
oh yeah and I know your joking AzLex
but "Funner"

Keep the SC and get the MR2
I don't know about the 2nd gen MR2, but the 1st gen is not comfortable for taller folks like myself. I test drove one when I was 17 and I had no room....back then I was 6', I am 6'3 now, 220lbs.
I will take the SC in this case [gotta fit with the tops on]

Thanks for the Replys everyone, I think I will keep the beloved SC, one reason I didn't like mine is cuz I haven't washed it in about 4 months, ewww, well 2 months it hasn't been washed, dealership washes it and likes to use those lame brushes which swirls it, better than dirty I guess. I just washed it, and dam, I love the SC again... and like Legendary said, keep SC get the Mr2, well guess I can't get that mr2, but maybe that will be a short term goal, maybe only spend some of the upgrade $ I have saved and spend rest on a start on Mr2
Thanks CL all opinions always appreciated.

Don't pass on that MR2 Turbo if it's in good shape, you would regret it. I'm on my second '91T because I was sorry that I sold the first one. Comparatively to a SC4, yes, the space is limited but relatively the MR2 actually has a lot of room. Many people are very surprised when they see the size of the trunk. And as for audio, both my '91Ts came with the Premium system and it sounded great. Not to mention that 10" subs fit perfectly in the compartments behind the seats. Some final word for ya; mid-engine, rwd, t-top, turbo.

the turbo mr2 is and always will be more fun than a 5speed sc300. Downgrade that all just depends on how you see it, and what you really want out of a car. Just cause it has the lexus name.
if you do the TT sway your will be putting more weight in the front of the already front heavy SC .. it might be fun going fast in a straight line for a little bit, but how fast can you really drive every day ... handling is overall better.imo. not to mention the 10k it will cost on top of the car to do the swap.
