Default Got rolled on by a Toyota Matrix the other day...

1/2 mile down, light just turned red, i'm in right lane, matrix in middle. there is nobody on the line ahead of me, but there is a guy waiting at the red in front of the matrix.

i'm cruising in 4th OD, matrix is on my left just about 1/4 car along side me. he punches it obviously to try to get ahead of me in low gear, he starts pulling some.

I think, "i'm not having that BS", and I punch it. matrix pulls about 2' ahead of me before we slow down, maybe about 1/4 mile later and at about 55mph.

i still got my start spot, i guess.

but damn these old 400s are slow

i blame the transmission. took about 2/3s to decide to downshift

Doesn't the Matrix come with a turbo?

The auto transmission on the SC400 really kills the potential of the 1uZ. My friend had a W58 swapped SC400 and it was pretty quick.

Huh? I drove a matrix many times, it's the slowest piece of sht on the planet.
Is this a serious thread right now? And hell no they did not come with a turbo. It comes with whatever lameass 4cyl Toyota sticks into 90% of their cars.

I think down shifting from 4th od to 1st @ 25mph just took an inordinately long amount of time for the slush box to accomplish

There are 2 different engines used in the matrix. The standard slow 1zz which is also used in the corolla and the matrix. Then there is the faster and more mod friendly 2zz which is used in the XRS models. The 2zz is also used in the Lotus Elise and exige (supercharged).

My sc4 Is bone stock and when you cram it to the floor it downshifts a couple gears and flys. Im not planning on taking on any 2002 Z28s but I think it would handle a matrix.

I'm sure the matrix weighs less than the SC. Our cars are pretty chunky when it comes to weight
